50 Years of Sex Workers' Struggles @ Brussels on June 2

Le 2 Juin 1975, une centaine de prostituées occupent l’Eglise Saint-Nizier de Lyon (France). Elles protestent contre les agressions récurrentes dont elles sont victimes et contre le harcèlement policier qui les empêche de travailler, les submerge d’amendes et cherche à les emprisonner. Cette occupation révolutionnaire entraîne, dans son sillage, une multitude d’autres dans les plus grandes villes de France.

50 ans après, où en sont les luttes des travailleur·euses du sexe pour leur droit à la sécurité et à l’autonomie ? Alors qu’UTSOPI fête ses 10 ans d’existence, nous vous invitons à une journée de table-rondes, prises de paroles, performances, stands d’information à l’Eglise du Béguinage/House of compassion.

On June 2nd 1975, one hundred prostitutes occupied the Saint-Nizier Church in Lyon, (France). They protested the recurring violences they suffered and the police harassment that prevented them from working, flooded them with fines, and sought to imprison them. This revolutionary occupation led to a multitude of others in France's largest cities.

Fifty years later, where do sex workers' struggles for their right to safety and autonomy stand? As UTSOPI celebrates its 10th anniversary, we invite you to a day of roundtable discussions, speeches, performances, and information booths at the Béguinage Church/House of Compassion.
